Leak detection on process plant or systems using a helium trace in a nitrogen carrier gas, is the most accurate and quantify-able method available. On an offshore production platform module, or within a petrochemical complex, the elimination of hydrocarbon leakage is an operational priority. Such loss of containment can lead to hazardous situations, environmental impact and financial loss.
What is Helium Leak Testing:
Helium is used to find small leaks or possibly larger leaks in bigger volumes. The helium is also used as a tracer gas and its concentration is measured
Nitrogen/Helium Leak Testing :
- Gas booster and N2 bottles for testing of process and piping systems with low volume and pressure
- Nitrogen pump and LN2 tank for testing of larger volume/ higher pressure process and piping systems
- Remote and portable leak detectors (mass spectrometer)
- Ultrasonic integrity test to process and piping system valves
- Silencer fitted during bleed-off
Scope of use :
- Purging during shut down and maintenance programmers
- Leak testing of new process plant and system
- Leak testing following system shut down, maintenance or modification
- Test run and start up of compressors ‘live simulation’
- Commissioning of pipelines
